How Long Does Microblading Last?

 

Microblading is an incredible semi-permanent makeup technique that can last anywhere from one to three years. How long the results last depends on your age, metabolism, activity levels, and skin type. Regular touch-ups are the best way to ensure results last as long as possible.

Does Microblading Hurt?

 

It depends on your threshold for pain, but generally, microblading is much less painful than a traditional tattoo. This is because the pigment is applied with a much smaller utensil (hence the ‘micro’), and each hair stroke is hand drawn. The tiny needle only pierces the very surface of the skin, at a much shallower depth than traditional tattooing.  

 

Numbing cream is applied to the treatment area to reduce pain, and many clients describe a light scratching sensation if any pain at all. You can take Tylenol beforehand but make sure you avoid any painkillers which can thin your blood, such as aspirin and ibuprofen.

Is Microblading Permanent?

 

While often referred to as ‘permanent makeup,’ microblading typically lasts between one and three years. As the hair strokes are drawn on in shallow incisions in the skin, the pigment remains fairly surface level and will eventually fade over time as your skin cells regenerate. How quickly this happens depends on your skin type, lifestyle, and metabolism. Regular touch-ups can help the results last longer.

Much of this time is spent on a full consultation, where your qualified technician will talk you through the process and map out the proposed shape of your new brows so you can check you are happy with them. You will have the chance to choose the color for your pigment, whether you want to go with something close to your natural color or a little darker for a more dramatic look. 

 

Once both you and your artist are happy with the shape and symmetry of your new brows, the actual microblading process will begin, which takes around 30 minutes. Afterward, you will be provided with full microblading aftercare instructions to help the healing process go smoothly.
